If, for whatever reason, you find yourself walking to New Jersey along the George Washington Bridge at sunset, there is a spot where you can witness drivers turn into direct, almost blinding sunlight.
And their reactions are hilarious.
Maybe you’ve been there yourself, driving through a dark tunnel, then suddenly popping out into a bright sunny day. It can be bewildering, disorienting and sometimes even dangerous. But watching it happen to someone else can be pretty entertaining too: the fumbling hands reaching for a protecting sun visor, the squinted faces contorting with sudden discomfort, the inevitable scramble for sunglasses.
Each photo is a snapshot into the private lives of drivers and passengers headed toward New Jersey. They are vulnerable in their discomfort, but it is all too relatable.
