New York City is one of the most visited cities in the world.
Photos of New York Cityโs wonders are taken and shared everyday – the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park and, most recently, the dancing American woodcock at Bryant Park.
In this modern day of social media, however, the selfie still reigns supreme.
Itโs multiple declarations all in one photo – the fit, the beat, the location. Itโs a flex that says. โIโm here and I look good.โ
But who are you impressing with a selfie in front of the same old tourist spots that your boomer aunt took in 2003? No one wants to see Times Square for the umpteenth time.ย
So where should you be taking those selfies in New York City?
The answer dates back to ancient times when cell phones were first introduced: The bathroom.
Lucky for you, New York City has some of the best restaurants with some of the best bathrooms. Here are our top five.ย

๐ Obvio (3 E 28th St, New York, NY 10016)
How can you resist a monochrome moment, especially one in all red? It’s the perfect backdrop for a dramatic photo to casually drop on your stories wearing a tiny little miniskirt after a situationship has gone ghost.

๐Sofreh (75 St Marks Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217)
It’s every creative director’s dream to have a wall filled with Iranian movie posters and Sofreh delivers on that dream hard.
It’s colorful, retro and niche โ the trifecta for exhibiting your extremely nuanced cultural knowledge of cinema and art.

๐Coqodaq (12 E 22nd St, New York, NY 10010)
At the entrance of Coqodaq is their hand washing bar, lined with luxury designer hand soaps from Loewe, Hermes and Diptyque. So, not necessarily a bathroom but still bathroom-esque – it’s dimly lit with soft vanity lights ready to give you that filtered glow.
A location tag also wouldn’t hurt, considering Coqodaq is one of the most coveted dining spots in New York City right now.

๐Nowon (507 E 6th St, New York, NY 10009)
Nowon’s burger is not the only thing that’s made New York City’s Top 5 list. Complete with a working disco ball, laser lights and club music blasting through the speakers, Nowon’s bathroom is sure to make any soju-induced patron’s selfie reminiscent of a night out at 3AM.

๐The Grill (Seagram Building, 99 E 52nd St, New York, NY 10022)
The Grill is screams swanky, luxury and definitely out of your budget. The bathroom has individual vanities in their powder room for goodness’ sake. Which makes the lighting all the more flattering. It’s literally movie star lighting.
